Recruitment:
UrbaCore’s selection process is very competitive in nature. UrbaCore will focus its efforts on recruitment by using these areas:
1) Meeting with School Officials-

UrbaCore will primarily rely on the Hamilton County Schools to provide access to guidance counselors and principals. There will be presentations made at these schools to educate the students on UrbaCore’s mission, vision and purpose.
2) Workshops-

There will also be workshops strategically held throughout the year to create interest in upcoming “cores,” (cores meaning class, i.e., first class will be called Core 1). Partnering businesses will be encouraged to attend in order to show potential students that jobs do exist within this field. Current students enrolled will be in attendance as well.
3) Media Advertisement- UrbaCore will place advertisements in newspapers to announce upcoming enrollment. There will also be opportunity to get a feature on UrbaCore aired through one or more of the local television stations.
4) Job Fairs- UrbaCore will make a strong presence at local and community job fairs.
5) Word of Mouth- UrbaCore’s greatest recruiting tool is from those success stories, and those who are currently enrolled, or have graduated from the program.

Selection and Interview Process:
UrbaCore’s success is largely based on the screening and acceptance of applicants who fit the criteria or mold of UrbaCore’s mission. This part is extremely critical, and highly competitive. UrbaCore offers an excellent opportunity to obtain “real-life” work experience, training, education, and a promising career. All applicants are required to fill out an UrbaCore application which includes complete work history, education background, extracurricular activities, along with computer interest and background. They will also be required to complete several writing samples, and have two references fill out a recommendation form. After these items are received, they will be reviewed by the UrbaCore Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee will then decide who to call back for an initial interview with the president of UrbaCore. At this point, a determination will be made if the candidate is to come back for a panel interview with the Admissions Committee. After that interview, the Admission Committee will make a decision to invite the candidate back for a third interview with one of his/her references, and he/she will also be asked to complete some testing.
